How Brazil changed how I treat my body.

I’ve always cared about my appearance. Not in an altogether vain way but perhaps teetering on the edge. In the UK, I cared a lot about fashion. I lived in London, and what was currently in trend was thrown in your face daily. I couldn’t go anywhere without passing clothes shops showing the latest styles.

I cared about my body too. I ate all the superfoods and plant life this and that with fancy lunches at work telling me how much protein I was consuming. My gym was super high end, and I went to an array of different classes from the standard HIIT to more novelty ones like belly dance and hula hoop.

I was young(er) with money and had the world of current trends in fitness, food, beauty and fashion at my fingertips, but … I have never looked or felt better as I have done in my life as I have done living in Brazil.

Here I would get shown a plastic surgeon they can recommend on Instagram.

In terms of revealing my body, I was more covered up in the UK, so there was less focus was on my wobbly bits as they weren’t out in public. While here wearing fewer clothes, I am more aware of how my body could be in better shape in some areas. To contrast this negative thinking about my…
