Settled Down Doesn’t Need To Be Unsettling

Does the phrase ‘settle down’ fill you with dread? To many, including (waves hand in the air) me, it did. But why? Why did these words make me feel like I suddenly had a strong urge to emigrate to another country and sell mangos on the beach? I’ve always seen myself as a person that doesn’t easily succumb to society’s biases; but, how could I explain the impending doom I felt from these two little words?
